We are a company with imagination, technological innovation, and insistence on quality to provide a wide variety of cutting tools to our nation’s marketplace.
Where We Started
Founded by Stephen A. Morse in 1864, after inventing the twist drill, he opened the Morse Twist Drill and Machine Company in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Shortly after, Morse created the taper shank series to better drive his twist drill.
Entering the twentieth century, Morse developed a grinding machine used in the manufacture of drills. During World War II, Morse output increased to as much as five times normal production, contributing to the war effort.
Throughout the years, Morse Cutting Tools has operated under the ownership of numerous companies, including Gulf+Western, and has always been committed to upholding the Morse reputation for high quality, American-made cutting tools.
